SRAM Products at Mammoth Stores

SRAM is a US company that produces a wide range of SRAMbicycle components. The brand name is derived from the initials of the names of its founders: Scott, Ray and Sam.

The SRAM brand is internationally known for its drivetrains and best-selling components such as the SRAM GX Eagle 12v chain, the SRAM 12v cassette, the SRAM GX Eagle 12v rear derailleur and many more. Many of the parts from their state-of-the-art 12-speed groupsets dominate the market in sales of these types of bicycle components.

Those we have mentioned are just a few excellent examples from the wide range of SRAM products. Several are in-house developments such as the Grip Shift or the SRAM RED eTap electronic derailleur.

Originally the company focused on the components that make up a bicycle drivetrain, but SRAM has gone on to add many other types of cycling components and accessories, thanks to major acquisitions of other well-known brands, each specialising in different products, such as Avid, RockShox, Truvativ, Zipp and Quarq.

By adding the specialised technology from each brand, SRAM has been able to produce and market products such as SRAM cranks or SRAM disc brakes.

The Success of the SRAM 1x Drivetrain for MTB

One of the brand's greatest achievements was the introduction of its single chainring for MTB bikes (1x). At the time, two and even three chainrings were the norm on drivetrains for both MTB and road bikes.

The SRAM XX1 MTB groupset back then had a single chainring together with an 11-sprocket or speed cassette. It was also unusual to see a small 10-tooth sprocket and a large one with up to 42 teeth, but the efficiency and performance of this groupset finally convinced the majority of cyclists. So much so, that competitive brands ended up developing similar products to those by SRAM.

This was followed by the SRAM Eagle single ring with 12 sprockets on the cassette, which is still effective and in use today. A family of drivetrains for the different disciplines followed, consisting of groupsets such as SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS, SRAM XX1 Eagle, SRAM X01 Eagle AXS, SRAM X01 Eagle, SRAM GX Eagle AXS, SRAM GX Eagle, SRAM NX Eagle and SRAM SX Eagle.

Another extraordinary breakthrough was the development of wireless drivetrains. At SRAM, they bear the name AXS. AXS wireless and electronic technology adds a whole host of advantages and allows for easy shifting at the touch of a button. The elimination of cables and hoses allows for cleaner aesthetics, easier installation and less maintenance, among many other advantages. The operation of the electronic rear derailleur is a real marvel.

This SRAM "wireless" AXS technology has even been added to telescopic bicycle seat posts such as the RockShox Reverb AXS, providing a new level of performance, simplicity and reliability for this type of component, which is increasingly in demand.

New Generation of SRAM XX, XX SL and X0 MTB Drivetrains

The brand brings important changes with the new SRAM EAGLE Transmission and all its different versions. The wireless electronic rear derailleur of this drivetrain is directly connected to the frame and the thru axle of the wheel, dispensing with the traditional replaceable derailleur hanger. This was unthinkable until now. This groupset is compatible with bike frames prepared for the UDH standard. Another important feature of this new generation of drivetrains is the absence of adjustment screws, as no adjustments are required after installation.

In order to dispense with the traditional derailleur hanger, SRAM has designed an extraordinarily strong and robust rear derailleur that is capable of withstanding shock and impact without it affecting shifting precision. In the event of a breakage, many parts of the new rear derailleur can be purchased and replaced.

The new SRAM XX SL is the lightest version of this rear derailleur, entirely focused on XC. The SRAM XX has a more trail-oriented vocation and, finally, there is the new SRAM X0 designed for the most extreme modalities and e-bikes.

As always, you can buy one of these complete groupsets, including all its parts such as the rear derailleur, chain, crankset, chainring and shifter.

SRAM Groupsets for Road Bikes

Together with Shimano and Campagnolo, SRAM has been a leader in road bike drivetrains for years. There is a SRAM drivetrain for every type of user and price range.

In the entry-level SRAM range you can find both the single and double crankset versions of the SRAM APEX. It is not the most suitable groupset for high-level competition, but its performance and aesthetics are up there with the other higher-end groupsets from the brand.

In the range just above, is the SRAM RIVAL groupset. It could be described as a perfect mid-range groupset for a large number of road cyclists. At this level SRAM still uses mainly aluminium. This differentiates it, among other things, from the high-end groupsets where carbon has a greater presence. Nevertheless, this groupset benefits from the technologies in SRAM's top-of-the-range groupsets. As with the APEX, there are single and double chainring versions.

In the range above the RIVAL is the SRAM FORCE. This groupset would be placed among the mid to high end groupsets on the market. If we compare it with competitive groupsets such as the Shimano Ultegra, the FORCE would be slightly better in terms of its lightweight. There is also a FORCE single chainring version and double chainring versions.

And at the top of the range is the SRAM RED, a groupset focused on high competition and users who demand the same products used by professional road cyclists. SRAM RED groupsets are super light, with smooth, quiet and precise operation.

AXS wireless technology, as you would expect, is also featured in many SRAM road groupsets, creating an extraordinary range of possibilities for every possible use and rider.
